Many mountain and lakeshore walking routes are available directly from the hotel. These include Helvellyn, Fairfield Horseshoe, Langdale Pikes, and low level routes beside Rydal Water and Grasmere Lake.

Bridge House Hotel & Silver Howe View Cottage is less than 5 miles from Lake Windermere and around 13 miles from Keswick. Amblesides attractions include the Armitt Museum and 17th-century Bridge House.
