Overlooking Halfmoon Bay and the islands of the Foveaux Straits, Kowhai Lane Lodge is just 5 minutes walk from the waterfront. A 4-hour Ulva Island tour is included in your accommodation rate. All accommodation offers a TV and electric blankets.
Set on Stewart Island, Kowhai Lodge is surrounded by lovely gardens, home to many species of native birds. It is 6 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and ferries to Bluff. There is a free bus transfer to and from the air terminal.
Accommodation options include private rooms and self-contained apartments. All are heated and offer a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer.
Shared facilities include a communal kitchen and a self-service laundry. There are secure lockers provided for gear storage while hiking the nearby trails. Guests enjoy a communal lounge with a DVD library.
Kowhai Lodge Stewart Island is 4 minutes walk from Obans shops and restaurants. The communal kitchen offers a shared pantry and fresh fruit, tea, coffee and milk is supplied each day. Please inform Kowhai Lane Lodge in advance of your expected arrival time. Included in the rate is a Sails Ulva Island Open Sanctuary tour with the following details: - Tours can start early morning or late afternoon - 4 hour return trip - Departs from the accommodation, guests are taken to the waters edge and on a 10-minute boat ride - Guests arrive at Ulva Island open sanctuary and are then taken by the guide on a 1.5km easy walk - Guest return via boat back to the accommodation - Tour usually consists of approximately 6 people Please contact Kowhai Lane Lodge for additional information.
