Hotel Terrasse am See is situated on the banks of Lake Lucerne, at the steamboat landing stage and the Rigi Mountain Railway Station in Vitznau. The historic hotel was opened in 1873 and dates from the earliest days of the railway service to Mount Rigi. Free Wi-Fi is featured throughout the property.

The hotel celebrates Swiss traditions and each floor of the hotel tells a story of the railway and the house. The uniquely decorated en-suite rooms at the Hotel Terrasse am See are furnished in historic style with carefully restored pieces of period furniture and old parquet floors. A limited number of private parking spaces is available and paid public parking can be found in the vicinity. The reservations are guaranteed until 18:00. The hotel must be informed in case of later check-in. The latest check-in time is 23:00, if verified by the hotel. In the night there is no check-in possible.
