There are only 6 rooms in the inn, which is more like a traditional ski club lodge than a motel. It is also home "Big Red" the cat - he is very friendly, and most of our guests love him, but if you are severely allergic to cats, you may want to choose another property. During the ski season, it is next door to "Fresh Cafe and Apres," and our guests enjoy breakfast there. In the summer, it is a great spot for bikers, and there is indoor bike storage. The Shutter was built in the mid-60s and has been host to serious skiers - from ski bums to cat skiers to ski racers, ever since. Offering ski rentals and ski to door access, this Rossland lodge is 45 km away from West Kootenay Regional Airport. It features a large communal hot tub with mountain views on-site.
