Ryokan Tanabe

Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Guests can request relaxing massage treatments or soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, which are made of rocks and cypress wood.

Tanabe Ryokan is a 1-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and a 5-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station. It is a 15-minute bus ride from Hida No Sato Folk Village and a 40-minute drive away from Shirakawago.

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, fridge, and tea/coffee maker are included in each. The en suite bathroom includes a bath.

Free coffee is served at the lobby, and a common lounge with an Irori hearth is available for guests.

A traditional multi-course meal is served for dinner, and a Japanese set menu is available for breakfast. Meals are served in the guests rooms. Guests must check in by 18:00 to eat dinner at this property. Guests who check in after this time may not be served dinner, and no refund will be given. Please inform Ryokan Tanabe in advance of your expected arrival time. Dinner is served at 18:00, or 18:30 or 19:00. Breakfast is served at 07:00, 07:30 or 08:00. Guests must request meal time upon check-in.

Guests with a breakfast only meal plan who want to eat dinner at the hotel must make a reservation in advance.

Guests with a tattoo may not be permitted to enter public bathing areas and other public facilities.
