The surrounding area is famous for its music, poetry and literary festivals. Guests can enjoy the nearby coastal trails for walking and cycling, as well as boating on the lake, or golfing on the 18-hole course. Tennis at Thorpeness Country Club is available for free most of the year. For bed and breakfast guests golf is subject to availability, charged at the current green fee rate.

A Handicap certificate issued by the guests own golf club is required to play.
