The Bull Hotel & Restaurant

The Bull Inn is a 16th century coaching inn ideally located in the centre of charming Woodbridge. The property overlooks Market Hill including the imposing Shire Hall and the impressive St Marys Church.

The current building has been extended over the years and stands on the site of an older hostelry of the same name. The present building dates from the days when it was a posting house for the stagecoaches which ran from London via Colchester, Ipswich and then onto Norwich via Wykham Market.

Around the bar, you will see parts of the original timber-frame which pre-dates the current structure and could possibly date from the 15th century in common with several other buildings around the market square.

The earliest official reference of The Bull appears in the Ipswich Journal in 1726 whilst in the records of 1734 it is referred as an ancient inn, formerly known as The Pyed Bull and The Black Bull.

Blend modern decor with the period features, all rooms have a TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Many have views of the courtyard or Market Hill.

The Bull Restaurant offers a selection of British and international dishes, including a traditional Sunday lunch. The Savoia cafe bar offers light meals and coffees as well as cocktails and wines.

Free Wi-Fi and free limited on-site parking are available. The Sports Bar shows live matches on its TV and the Bull has an entertainment schedule which includes karaoke.

Woodbridge is a small country town on the River Deben, 8 miles from Ipswich centre. Sutton Hoo ancient burial mounds are less than 10 minutes drive away and the seashore is 15 miles away.
