HotelDescription#Conveniently located in the heart of the LSDI (Lubombo Spatial Development Initiative), guests have easy access to many of the conservation, wildlife and cultural attractions in the region. Tembe Elephant Park and Lake St. Lucia are both approximately 50 km from the country house and Hluhluwe Game Reserve is around 25 km away. The city of Durban and Durban International Airport are both roughly 290 km from the hotel.

The original hotel, built in 1948 on the postal road from Durban to Lourenco Marques (Maputo), was purchased by the Zulu Nyala Group in 1996. The hotel has been restored to its original colonial grandeur, complimented by a delightful African ambience. The country house offers 57 guest rooms in total and facilities include a lobby, games room, TV lounge, bar, dining room and conference facilities.

All of the guest rooms are fully air-conditioned and en suite with a separate bathtub, a shower and a hairdryer. The spacious colonial-style rooms are all equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, overhead fans, a wall-mounted safe and a direct dial telephone.

Guests can take time out between African adventuring to relax next to the sparkling outdoor swimming pool or in one of the bars or entertainment areas. The hotel also has a small library, as well as a beautifully stocked curio shop for browsing pleasure and be sure to keep an eye out for the impala, nyala, warthog, zebra, blesbok and Zulu nguni cattle that roam freely on the property.

Lunch and dinner are served buffet style and la carte in the restaurant. They can also be served outdoors, weather permitting.
